Polycom Via Video II

Does anyone out there use this product, or know someone who does? How is it? I'd love to know more about it from a consumer's perspective.

It retails for $480 here, but I found it for less (though not by much) on Froogle.
If it's stable and compatible with the VP-100/200, there just might be a market for it among residential video telephone consumers.

I have rarely used the Polycom device at the federal agency. A few years ago, I asked IT specialist if it is possibly to work on any Webcam or MS Netmeeting software. He answered, "No."

I will test the Polycom device if it works to my I2EYES VP at work and will probaly let you know later.

An alternative to the VP-100/200 technology and the expensive Polycom is the D-Link. You can buy them here:

http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=8&sec=0

It's functionally compatible with the VP-100 and I've done a VP-VP connection with the VP-200.

You can use them with a computer, if you have a tv-tuner card or a video card with video out.

I just tested the Polycom to my Dlink VP. It does not work since it is for ISDN only as of telephone system. It may not work on IP address. I will update you later only if I inquire to IT specialist.

Feel free to let me know if you have any question regarding to Polycam system...
